NEOC launches election observation report on 2026 Nepali Elections

NEOC said despite an incomplete composition of commissioners, the Election Commission Nepal managed to make all necessary arrangements for the conduct of the elections. They noted, however, of structural deficiencies with limited access to election-related information and voter education in remote areas, among others.

They said that election-related violations of the Code of Conduct were monitored together the NGO Federation of Nepal, GEOC, and EOC-Nepal. Weak enforcement of the Code of Conduct was also noted.

Election Day, overall, was regarded as largely peaceful, orderly, and conducted in accordance with procedures. Unequal voter access, limitations on observer access, and presence of security personnel near voting areas were noted.

The report also offered a set of recommendations addressed to seven key stakeholder institutions: government, security agencies, Election Commission, Nepal, political parties, media, civil society and international community.
