COVID-19 and Elections: 2020 Sri Lankan Parliamentary Election, 5 August 2020

The Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) wishes to congratulate the people of Sri Lanka for the successful conduct of the 2020 Sri Lankan Parliamentary Election. With an estimated voter turnout of over 70 percent, Election Day was generally peaceful and the efforts to ensure the public's health and safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic are commendable.

We would also like to thank the staff and volunteers of ANFREL for their hard work. Without them, ANFREL's election assessment would not have been possible.

ANFREL is consolidating the data we have gathered from field observation of our volunteers, research and interviews with various stakeholders and we'll release the assessment of the Sri Lankan polls by the end of August.
