Afghanistan

Overview

Afghanistan, meaning land of the Afghans, has been an ancient focal point of the Silk Road and human migration. It is an important geostrategic location, connecting East, South, West and Central Asia.[10] The land has been a target of various invaders from at least the time of Alexander the Great in 330 BCE and and a source from which local powers rose to form empires and influence neighboring regions. It has been home to various peoples through the ages, among them were ancient Aryan tribes who established the dominant role of Indo-Iranian languages in the region.
