The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (BERSIH) launched an essay and video competition in conjunction with Malaysia Day and the International Day of Democracy.

The public are invited to submit an essay or a video about the following: why democracy is important, most important reforms needed in Malaysia, and/or parliament as a bedrock for political stability.

Essays should be 1,000 to 2,000 words while videos could be up to 90 second for Instagram reels, 2 minutes for TikTok videos, and 10 minutes for Youtube posts. Deadline of submission is on 19 October 2023. Entries can be in Malay or English.

The top essay entry will win RM 1,500, a book and a BERSIH t-shirt while the top video entry will win RM 2,000, a book and a BERSIH t-shirt. Two runner ups per category will also win prices.
