ANFREL, SLPI conduct media observation training

The Asian Network for Free Election (ANFREL) conducted a media observation training for the Myanmar Network Organization for Free and Fair Elections (MYNFREL) from 8 to 9 September 2020.

The Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI) shared their experience observing the media coverage of the 2015 General Elections and 2019 Presidential Election in Sri Lanka with the MYNFREL team which is planning to observe print and electronic media on their coverage of the 2020 Myanmar General Elections scheduled for 8 November 2020.

This is part of ANFREL's continuous engagement with election stakeholders in Myanmar and follows ANFREL's webinar on media observation and monitoring to promote and increase media monitoring efforts in Myanmar.

Mr. Kumar Lopez of SLPI shared their experience in observing media coverage of elections in Sri Lanka.

MYNFREL team participated in ANFREL’s online training on media observation with SLPI.

Ten participants from MYNFREL joined the training via online meeting platform Zoom. SLPI will support MYNFREL throughout the conduct of the media observation project through the ANFREL mentoring program.

This program would not have been possible without the generous support from the Canadian Embassy in Yangon and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
