Unwavering Commitment to Electoral Integrity

A wave of outrage against government corruption have been taking place in several countries in Asia and beyond. Seemingly, the public outrage are mostly led by the youth who are fed up with the dire economic conditions and the observed flaunting of the lavish lifestyle of government officials and those who benefit from alleged corrupt acts in government.

In Nepal, the violent protests have led to the resignation of prime minister KP Sharma Oli. Former chief justice Sushila Karki was appointed as the interim prime minister. The Nepal parliament has been dissolved with the elections scheduled for 5 March 2025.

The people are making their voices heard with the likes of Nepal and Bangladesh charting a new course for their future through elections after mass protests have toppled governments.

The work of election observer groups and monitors are essential in ensuring that integrity of the electoral processes that is part of charting this course are intact. ANFREL and its member organizations remain commitment to upholding electoral integrity.
