ANFREL Members Roundup (December 2024)

In the December 2024 issue of the monthly e-Bulletin sub-newsletter ANFREL Members Roundup, ANFREL members continue their election-related work as the super election year of 2024 comes to a close.

Particularly, as the national and local elections in the Philippines draw near, ANFREL members have been engaging with various electoral stakeholders and monitoring the election preparations through their programs and activities.

The Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE) have been engaging with stakeholders in BARMM for the first parliamentary elections, while the National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) monitored COMELEC’s demonstration of automated counting machines across the country. The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) convened a national general assembly where they reaffirmed their commitment to uphold democracy and protect electoral integrity during the 2025 elections.

ANFREL member in Indonesia, Perkumpulan untuk Pemilu dan Demokrasi (PERLUDEM), hosted a two-day forum on electoral reform outlook for Indonesia while member Transparency Maldives conducted a two-day conferene on anti-corruption.

Taking stock from the super election year, ANFREL welcomes the new year with the renewed sense of duty and hope to uphold and protect electoral democracy. Cheers!
