We’re shifting gears!

As previously announced, ANFREL’s quarterly newsletter e-Bulletin will now be delivered bimonthly starting with the inaugural issue covering July-August 2024. We’re exploring, testing and developing how we could better communicate our work so please send us an email if you have comments and suggestions at e-bulletin@anfrel.org.

During the period, ANFREL launched the online learning platform of the Asian Academy for Electoral Integrity (AAEI), organized a training workshop on electoral reform for Thai CSOs, and three students from Taiwan completed their internship program with ANFREL.

ANFREL senior program officer John Antiquerra participated in the 8th Asia Young Leaders for Democracy program of the Taiwan Foundation for Demoracy. He was among the 16 fellows selected for the program who participated in a series of lectures and site visits in Taipei, Taiwan.

Meanwhile, during the Digital Rights in the Asia-Pacific Assembly, ANFREL co-hosted a roundtable session on “The 2024 Tech-Influenced Elections in the Eyes of Young Persons” with EngageMedia.

ANFREL also launched two new initiatives to provide a nuanced understanding of elections and monitor trends related to elections and democracy:

1) Data Dive is a biweekly analysis which looks into current election and democracy-related issues through data providing insights and context.

2) Provided as a supplement to e-Bulletin, ANFREL’s Elections and Technology Reader looks into trends related to generative AI and other emerging technologies and their use and impact to elections and democracy. The first issue features that experience of Indonesia during the 2024 general elections.
