The Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) deployed small teams of election observers to monitor the elections in Bangkok, Thailand on 28 June 2026.

Bangkok voters headed to the polls to elect the capital’s governor and members of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council. Pattaya voters simultaneously went to the polls to elect the city’s mayor and city council members.

ANFREL observed the election processes including the opening of the polls, voting, and counting processes.

This engagement followed ANFREL’s observation of the general elections and referendum in Thailand earlier this year as it forms part of ANFREL’s continuous monitoring of the electoral developments in the country.

The data gathered would inform ANFREL’s further engagement with various electoral stakeholders in Thailand.

ANFREL election observer teams were in Bangkok to observe Election Day processes. The polls in Bangkok, Thailand were open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The voter turnout was reported to be 49.7 percent for the Bangkok elections.

ANFREL observers also monitored the counting process for the Bangkok elections.
